The RNG aspect makes it frustrating to actually commit to a build, you never know if the gear you want is even going to drop, and with how limited the skill and weapon variety already is, it just makes things worse. Plus, the Night Tide cuts the fun short way too fast, messing with the pacing and flow. Good foundation, but it needs way more work.

How is Nightreign so far? I'm considering buying it but do I have to finish the previous DLC first?

I like it so far, just expected more content.
It's separate from the shadow DLC, though you have to finish the DLC because it's goated.

I love it, I was just hoping for more than one map/more bosses. The RNG elements make for a fun twist to the formula, I like not being able to choose your build so intentionally and having to work with what the game gives you. I also like the world and map events, just yesterday I did my first legendary weapon run into the lava crater and it was awesome.

I also love the characters/lore and all that such. My only real complaint with Nightreign is just straight up that I want more maps/events.

So far of the yellow armaments, I was only able to get Godrick axe and Mohg spear.

I have gotten several legendary weapons, but yesterday was the first time I got to the altar where you can upgrade any weapon to legendary. I had a +2 legendary giant crusher, which we then duplicated so I was dual wielding legendary giant crushers in Havel Raider skin. Lol
