MD ZoloI have found that changing anybody's mind in this fandom is an exercise in futility. Then why do we keep discussing anyway? Well, we do it to:
1. Prevent wrong statements from taking hold
2. Affirm our own views
Changing somebody's mind is a rare bonus on top of those two.
RayanOOThere are two different things : changing people minds and people who disagree with you.
Some people can be totally okay about changing their minds on a topic but you can understand that that same person can logically have an other opinion.
That doesn't mean that you have to stop making good thread with arguments about what you believe.
RayanOOThe important part is discussing with logical arguments, politely, and with an open mind about a subject.
But in the end of the day people can still have different opinions on it
Cinera@MD Zolo those aren't my purposes for debate. If debate doesn't lead to more accurate positions, then it is in my opinion an exercise in futility.
CineraI am not really interested in advocating for a particular agenda or in combatting any other particular agenda.
Cinera@RayanOO: folks disagreeing with me is fine. But if I'm unable to resolve disagreements or develop more informed and/or accurate positions on a topic after discussing it, then the discussion was pointless.
CineraThe latest example: "was Killer mentally hindered during his battle with Zoro". I devoted several hundred words (and many panels) to doing the question justice. If the supermajority of people that read my post still have the same position they started with before reading it, then there was not much point to me writing the post.
