Rhaegar was talented but Jahaerys actually won his duels lol. I have Jahaerys > Rhaegar as a fighter.

@Elder Lee Hung Jahaerys grew into a martial badass.

Though I don't think he would have beaten Maegor. Maegor was a freak with Hound/Robert strenght, Blackfyre in hand and was apparently so talented that he was beating seasoned knights at thirteen. He entered a trial by seven with whatever knight he found at Kingslanding against the best of the Faith and he still won. Lol.

I have Maegor as a top 3 Targaryen warrior, likely above Jahaerys. He legit had no equals in melee as stated in F&B. Jahaerys was great but he is beneath the top 3 Targaryens.

I would say the top 3 are Daemon Blackfyre, Maegor and Aemon the Dragonknight.

Though it seems like Baelor was also considered the best in Westeros during Dunk time.

About Baelor, Duncan reflects that he's maybe the best in Westeros, above his own Kingsguard. He also partecipates in the collapse of Daemon Blackfyre's forces at redgrass field.

And he does beat Daemon Blackfyre, though in a just.

Yeah neither of them have any 1v1 melee wins, though it is definitely possible they would be comparable to the top 3, I would want to see more from them. I have no issues putting them above Jahaerys/Rhaegar level guys, it definitely seems like they were more experienced in battle than Jahaerys was. And Baelor outjousting Daemon Blackfyre is great, but jousts usually don’t translate to melee skill.

Hmmm at this point it’s basically just a question of who I like more. Lol

I hold Maegor and Daemon as pretty much equals. Maegor did have to go live in exile for a while, but he brought Balerion with him so I’m really not sure how much personal fighting he did. I will say I think Daemon’s victory over Gwayne is probably a better clean victory than any of Maegor’s known wins.

I would go as far as say that Gwayne vs Daemon duel is the most legendary 1v1 that we know of. At least in terms of overall skill of the fighters.

The Corbrays really were a line of champion knights and superb warriors so yeah I’m game. They have produced some of the most lethal knights ever.

I think any of these three is a good choice. Maybe Daemon Blackfyre but the other two probably are still pretty much equal to him.

Also, Daemon Targaryen absolutely shouldn't be underastimated too. He was considered the most experienced warrior of his time and at one point six assassins didn't want the risk of him waking up from his sleep during their task.

Daemon certainly wasn't dangerous for Caraxes only. He was a top tier warrior who could tangle with anybody.
