Khamenei's assassination won't destroy the regime, he'll just be replaced. It won't stop the regime from seeking nuclear weapons either, in fact, it's more likely to do the opposite, incentivize them to obtain nuclear weapons even sooner, as they're the only true deterrence to US intervention, North Korea and Russia prove that.

1) Killing Khamenai doesn't result in regime change. The regime is still very much there.
2) That "crazy mullah" issued a Fatwa against nuclear weaponry. His death makes Iranian nukes far more likely.
3) The Iranians got like 4 dudes in succession after him. Forget a drone strike, the man was 86 with lifelong health problems.
4) Khamenei gets the martyrdom he openly wished to receive.
