The doctors believed that Big Ounce would not survive. Uncle Ben asked everyone to send prayers to Big Ounce in hopes that he will recover.
After all the prayers and Master Oogway's chi energy, Big Ounce got stronger and stronger. However, Master Oogway eventually ended up leaving the house because of the rise in temperature. This left just Uncle Ben to care for Big Ounce.

To Uncle Ben’s surprise, the prayers to Big Ounce seemed to work very well. Big Ounce was recovering at a rapid rate and had an almost full chance of survival. As of March 12, 2023, Big Ounce’s tumor had shrunk by about 50x. Uncle Ben has expressed great gratitude to everyone for sending their prayers.

During Big Ounce’s recovery, a new animal was introduced to Uncle Ben’s house, a hedgehog by the name of Ugandan Knuckles. Big Ounce and Ugandan Knuckles didn’t seem to care about each other and had a mostly neutral relationship.
This arc has two sub-arcs: the Big Ounce Cancer Arc and the Ouncetopian Liberation Arc.

Despite his severely injured state, Big Ounce appeared to be healthy as ever, even still being able to jump onto the couch.
