I didn’t really struggle that much with DoH but I used malcontent to shred his third phase

That's the thing, have you tried it WITHOUT the whistle cheese? It lowkey took me far, far more tries to beat it than Malenia that way.

I did when I fought him in the gauntlets but at that point I think I was good enough/experienced enough at the game that it wasn't bad
