13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that THAT YE MAY KNOW that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
OkamakamaI'm not really a Baptist. I believe that salvation is not a guarantee and requires a life of faith and dedication to the lord to ensure salvation - commune with the holy spirit, if you will.
Blax BlahAlrighty but what do you think about that verse?
OkamakamaNaturally it has merit, but there are contradicting verses as well.
Blax Blah"The general rule is that you don't do college algebra before you learn calculus. And nobody makes a book without first learning how to read and write.
In the same way, you can't interpret a clear passage in the light of an unclear passage"
- Peter Ruckman
So I think 1 John 5:13 should be taken as is and the other "contradictory" and unclear verses studied
Blax BlahBTW baptist churches are awesome, I'm not saying this to convince you but I started going to one, and we've done
We do group bible studies, game nights, we do volleyball, summer camp, 2 sermons a week, we celebrate with food and lasertag when someone gets baptised, we cook food and eat it, etc
