Elder Lee HungPart 1: It’s mainly that I just don’t enjoy where Oda took his character arc. At Marineford, he was meant to be the “man of action” who stepped up to face every challenge and ultimately contributed the most to the war. His recommendation for Fleet Admiral, just viewing Marineford by itself, seemed like the logical progression for him, he was almost like the Blackbeard of the Navy in terms of where his arc was headed
Elder Lee HungPart 2: post-time skip, Akainu has become neutered, he is a vehicle for Oda to explore how politics and such gimps him from doing what he really wants to do, which if he had his way, I’m sure would mean all-out war with the Yonko in some capacity. And I just don’t enjoy that as much as I enjoyed him at Marineford lol.
Elder Lee HungPart 3: a lot of what made Akainu awesome pre-TS is now gone, Akainu pre TS was so radical that he’d kill you where you stood if he felt like it, friend or foe. He was also an incredible smooth-talker and could talk sons into betraying their fathers. He was easily the most dastardly villain introduced pre TS imo.
