Thanks good sir. Meh, I can't complain honestly. Lol all this all time away from my job has done wonders for my mental disposition. Even with the "awakening" happening within our country, things are looking brighter than ever ✌️

Oh yeah, forgot you stepped away from work for a while. I would KILL to not still be working while trapped at home, although I’d probably die from lack of resources from the same before I had the chance 😕

Lol oh I'm still teleworking every day, I just don't have to physically go to work until like mid-Aug. How you holding up over there?

Oh shit, that’s right...I’m doing the same thing, but my company’s servers keep fucking up every day. I do medical billing and most payers have timely filing limits, so not being able to submit things quickly has been killing us lately. You think shit will quiet down in Jersey by August? I haven’t heard of y’all getting hit too hard lately.

Oh yes, you gotta love that VPN reliability. Medical billing, sounds like you have a relatively busy job. Does it differentiate between those with and without insurance? Yeah Jersey has been on the decline as of lately and the governor is optimistic we'll be fully open by the end of next month. I do aircraft testing so with travel limitations in place, I can't fully execute my job other than paperwork.... yay

It’s definitely busy, and my position solely concerns those with insurance, but I can tell you a lotta people don’t have it, and the prices they have to pay for healthcare are borderline criminal in their exorbitance. Even though it would likely lead to me losing my job, I am a staunch supporter of Medicare For All...you could probably tell that already 🥴

Holy shit, dude, do you test the actual parts of an aircraft or the whole thing? I don’t know anyone else in that line of work, but it must be a crucial industry considering the risks involved in flight...

You damn socialist, lol kidding. I receive free healthcare through the military, but when I mistakenly receive the occasional bill, I'm blown away at how much simple routine checkups cost. As you said, it's damn near criminal in what they charge these people.

I'm a propulsion specialist, so all my tests revolve around aircraft engines/accessories/components, and how they interact with the plane itself. Yeah I guess you could call it crucial, the results of my work could be the determinant in the flying or failing of an aircraft.

That’s fucking BADASS, man!! You’re responsible for the whole damn thing, nobody’s getting into the sky without your efforts!! I can’t even fathom the time and energy you must have spent in school and training on the job...then again, I can’t imagine TRYING at work in general 🤯

Lol its not a bad gig, it has its shares of ups and downs just like any other job. Do you deal directly with people or do you just generate a bill?

Fair enough, a job is just that no matter how cool it sounds to outsiders. I explicitly took this job so I wouldn’t have to interact with patients; basically, after they visit, the hospital generates a claim with all the services rendered, then I review it and alter the prices/codes/modifiers as necessary before submitting it to whatever insurance.

I also do follow up whenever we receive denials, which is frequently. I’m predominantly a Medicare biller, but I have to do commercial from time to time, which is where you really start to see the fallacies of the healthcare industry - they won’t cover shit without very specific documentation, and even then they’ll often find any reason not to pay.

It takes a special kind of person to handle customer service on a daily basis, I don't blame you for taking that career path lol. Since you're the middle-man between the faculty and the patient, do you feel impartial to any side of the fence? I know you mentioned that current fallacies the industry contains, but do you still tend to lean in favor of your profession over the people?

I did my time in retail, and I’m of the belief everyone should work a customer service job at least once just to see how shitty people can really be 😭

Honestly, I try to do anything possible to prevent balances from getting to a patient. Often, I am stymied in those efforts either by the system itself or my client’s utter incompetence.
