Truly seeing how Griffith is turning out to be evil now. The whole band of hawks just look like pawns to him. When he was talking about a friend being his equal and the next panel showing Griffith being "above" Guts on the stairs, figuratively and literally, absolutely beautiful.

Notice that Griffith has a twisted luffy complex. No one can compare to him and that’s how he subconsciously wants it. He talks about wanting to have true friends, but if anyone were to actually surpass him, I wonder what would happen... lol

I actually spoiled myself on that a little. I read a comment saying that when Griffith saw Guts surpassing him, he lost his mind. Is that true?

Not necessarily to stand at the top, Guts doesn’t really care about that. But he’s finally realizing that he hasn’t been living for any real reason at all, and wants to find something worth living for the way Griffith has.
