Bt i think you might be omitting some other possibilities, first of all Oda still decided to give Akainu superior portrayal to BB when he had to ran away after MF. Second, Akainu is the guy who killed Ace right in front of Luffy and previous WSM WB. Oda allowed him to do that, because he was set up for something important, for main character fight.

Second, Sabo itself is poor match for Akainu. It is already established by Oda that Sabo df is at disadvantage against Akainu df. And if Sabo still acheives the feat of beating Strongest Marine, it would be underwhelming for Akainu. Sabo also has no buildup for Akainu, Luffy so much. If his crewmates fights the rest of Admirals it only make sense if he fights the Strongest.
i believe it will be the fight against bb then the fight against the wg
