I don't know much about writing issues but I think Hunter x Hunter tells a phenomenal story with characters that develop into an amazing product. Meruem and Killua are wonderful examples. A power system that makes lots of sense complemented by epic battles that utilize experience, wit, and power.

Hxh isn't the best anime . Gintama is a lot better imo.

Furthermore, you got a villain group that far surpasses legitimately anything else I've ever seen. While their actions are straight up horrible, they're layered with a grayness that makes you fall in love with them. They ain't black and white evil. The Phantom Troupe had its own philosophy that led to an internal struggle in the arc they appeared in. It's pretty well done imo.

@Surgeon of Death I've never watched either Gintama or fmab so I can't really compare them. I do know several folks that have watched all three and they still have HxH as better tho.

there are also folks who have watched all three and regard gintama or full metal alchemist as the better one. Watch either of them and judge for yourself. Hxh looks unfinished while gintama and fullmetal alchemist don't.

@Admiral Lee Hung I can keep going if you want lol. The arcs after the Hunter Exam just keep getting better and better. Chimera Ant Arc contains some of the best of character development ever, almost reaching Guts level imo. Greed Island is a wonderful training arc putting whatever Luffy went through in Udon to shame. And Yorknew City(my personal favorite), is absolute hype.

I’ll consider it lol. You’re far from the first person I’ve had tell me HxH is high quality, but I usually have a very short attention span when it comes to new anime/manga. Maybe I’ll speedread the first few chapters until I get to the good part or something.

The mango is a waste of effort in my opinion. Anime soundtracks alone overshadow it.

@Dragomir It's not a surprise that Anime destroys the Manga when it's done by Madhouse. Same thing with Diamond no Ace.
Manga is awesome and pretty well drawn but Anime is made by I.G and Madhouse so you know.

I watched HxH for the first time this year. HxH is quite good, really a good experience, the arcs are better and better, the power system is cool and some characters are def awesome. But yeah it seems sometimes people give HxH too much credit. It is not a 20/20 for me but a solid 16/20. But it is unfair to compare a shonen like HxH to Berserk Kingdom or AOT.

Actually, about AOT, Lee, you read Attack on Titan right? Just so you know, some of the characters were heavily inspired by Hunter x Hunter ones. Levi and Annie are inspired from Phantom Troupe members. If you've watched Naruto then oh boy oh boy, it's a damn near copycat lol.
