Zenos7@Cinera why do you want to learn german though?
CineraI doubt I'll be able to appreciate German music TBH. At least not yet anyway.
Zenos7whenever you are able to speak/understand german, you need to check out knorkator. They are "germanys most band of the world".
Cinera@Zenos7: it was partly on a whim, partly because I inadvertently used Google Translate for stuff when chatting with @Calypso, partly because I got 3 months free on a language learning service, partly because I know someone who immigrated to and works in Germany, and partly because I'm considering migrating to the EU.
CalypsoWhatever you do. Don't listen to German hiphop/rap/schlager. Have some class
CineraHmm, there are a whole lot of reasons it seems. The chain of events was something like this:
* I used Google translate to translate some stuff to German when talking with Caly.
* I decided to learn the meaning of some common phrases and practise them by way of conversation.
* One of the sponsors for a podcast I was listening is Babel and I get 3 months free from them. They offer German.
Zenos7schlager is the worst, i agree. when it comes to hiphop though, there is still samy deluxe
Zenos7what other european countries/languages would you consider?
CalypsoOh gosh no. Its already enough pain if I'm forced to listen to Sarah Connor or Ben zucker..
CineraAnd then Germany has been kind of in my consciousness lately because I'm very keen on Tesla, and they're currently building a Gigafactory in Berlin.
I'm considering migrating (options are UK, EU, Canada, US, maybe Australia), and the EU is a bit seductive. I also know someone who studied in and currently works in Germany.
Germany is also Europe's largest economy. :V
Zenos7i dont know ben zucker, and it sounds like i dont want to know him either xD
CineraHmm, the possibility of migrating to Germany is at best a retroactive justification. It's not why I decided to take a look at the language, but it's probably the justification I'll use for expending the effort.
Zenos7from what i know berlin is a nice place to live in, a friend of mine moved there 2 years ago.
Calypsoberlin sucks. Its dirty and the people here are annoying. And then politics also sucks.
I would prefer to move out again from Berlin if I wouldn't work here
Cinera> what other european countries/languages would you consider?
@Zenos7: gosh, the Nordic countries are incredibly sexy. Like they're paragons of good governance and have a pretty generous welfare state. I guess I might also consider the Netherlands.
I'm not too keen on France from an economic calculus point, but I'll have to work that out explicitly. Almost any EU country would be better than Nigeria though.
CineraEstonia is also like a pretty interesting place. I here they have a very futuristic/technocratic society. It'll be interesting to live and work somewhere like that.
Zenos7im considering netherlands as well, though i would want to live near the german border at least
Zenos7i want to shift away from becoming a teacher and want to become a zookeeper (if thats the english term for it. . .), and there is no option in the city i live in anyway
