I wasn't on board with Luffy having a Garp at first, but I think Sakazuki fills that role. Wasn't he celebrated for helping in Whitebeard's death? It makes him close to being a hero like Garp was.

I don't think everyone has a parallel. It all boils down to "who represents what?" Blackbeard stands before Luffy in the PK throne, hero of the Marines Sakazuki is Luffy's greatest Marine advisory, and Zoro is his right hand man.

Sakazuki is not a Garp. Garp and Roger were friends on some level, and they respected each other. Sakazuki and Luffy definitely don’t have that dynamic lol.

@Finalbeta Seeing how Oda wants Wano to draw parallels to the Rock incident, Big Mom and Kaido would be Rocks's parallel.

@Admiral Lee Hung That's the thing. Blackbeard and Akainu aren't supposed to be friendly enemies to Luffy the way Whitebeard and Roger were to Garp. They're twisted version of those dynamics.
