Most of my character essays are actually about Khun Maschenny Zahard from Tower of God (the girl in my avatar, tag and signature). I like her a lot more than Zoro.
Tower of God has been on hiatus for 6 months though, and she wasn't even a major character in it. My passion could only carry me so far.

The fundamental problem is that One Piece is actually pretty scarce on strong, pretty girls who get physical in their fights.
Mama is about the only other strong woman who gets physical in her fights, but she's quite ugly.

Yamato is strong, a physical fighter, Oda isn't unwilling to draw her getting roughed up, and she has a pretty interesting fighting style.

Yamato might become a Strawhat, and Oda can't really ruin her character anymore unless he makes her another weak useless female, but this seems unlikely given what we've seen of her (was on par with Ace in Base, easily handled Post Udon G2/G3 Luffy while holding back in Base, casually oneshot a Number), and that she's Kaido's daughter.

This is just a long convoluted way of saying that it's safe to let myself like Yamato. I'm unlikely to get badly burned by her in the future.

I admit that I like Yamato for very superficial reasons, but eh, it's no skin of my back. One Piece female characters are generally underutilised/pretty bad.
Yamato is about the only example of what I want, so I'll take what I can get. Beggars can't be choosers after all.

I can see why you love Maschenny, with her thirst for battle, and the whole political mind games she got going on.
For now though, I would say I enjoy Evankell a lot more, since she has had the chance of being focused on more.

@Marimo_420: yeah, Maschenny just pushes all of my buttons. She hasn't got as much focus or attention as I want from her, but what she has shown more than makes up for it.

@Marimo_420: Garam will probably be sidelined until maybe the Princess Arc/Baam returns to the Floor of Death.

I do have things to say on Zoro that I feel wouldn't be said otherwise. I don't really feel like my voice is redundant and I'm just saying something someone else said in a different way.
