Olimaat@Midnight Delight "Gekiga (劇画), literally "dramatic pictures", is a style of Japanese comics aimed at adult audiences and marked by a more cinematic art style and more mature themes. Gekiga was the predominant style of adult comics in Japan the 1960s and 1970s."
The three gekiga founders should be considered as seinen's fathers.
While manga stands for "paltry pictures", gekiga stood for "dramatic pictures"
LhuluI'm not a Golgo 13 fan, however i need to recognize its enormous importance in the history of manga. R.I.P Saito-san.
Olimaat@Thururuzao Actually neither am I. I like Golgo but I prefer Matsumoto and Tatsumi ( GOAT ) works. I just recognize how massive Saito was. Third manga sales, 200 volumes... incredible
Midnight DelightGekiga seems more realistic artistically , were they inspired by American comics or something
