Elder Lee HungNameless/Faraam/Roidgwyn/whatever is truly a most incredible unit.
TheKnightOfTheSea>And in the end he gave his life to ignite a Sun for Dragonkind, truly becoming his father’s greatest pride and greatest shame (semi-headcanon)
I think you mentioned that theory/head canon once, could you elaborate a little more on that? I believe you said that its the reason for Nameless King's hollow like appearance
So, Gods in Dark Souls do not age into hollow-status. From what we know anyway. Gwyndolin lived for almost the same amount of time that Nameless did, but when we find Aldrich devouring him, he is still at the exact same age he was in Dark Souls 1 (and Gwyndolin was over a thousand years old in DS1)
Elder Lee HungA God becoming Hollow, from what we can tell, only happens if they burn their soul in the flame, as Gwyn did with the first flame. Gwyn was not a zombie due to age, he was a zombie because the flame burned his soul to ashes.
Elder Lee HungThen we get to Nameless, and he appears to be Hollowed just like Gwyn, but there is a Sun above Archdragon Peak alongside the fact that the Dragons have built monuments to him there as if he were a savior to their kind (given the theme of the game being that the world is truly ending this time)
Elder Lee HungSo I believe the only logical conclusion that we can reach is that Nameless gave his own soul just like Gwyn did to create a Sun above Archdragon Peak. I believe this not only fits into the theme of DS3 of every major boss being a Lord of Cinder,
Elder Lee HungBut also that Nameless becoming a Lord of Cinder also thematically fits with him abandoning Gwyn’s legacy. Him linking the flame is both something Gwyn should be incredibly proud of (his son truly living up to his legacy), as well as something Gwyn should be ashamed of as Nameless did this for the Dragons. This is the perfect “double/hidden meaning” storytelling that is prevalent everywhere else in Dark Souls,
Elder Lee HungAnd I think this is just narratively perfect personally lol.

TheKnightOfTheSeaWhat do you think about the Nameless King showing emotion? Seems to me that there's a gigantic difference between the hollowed states of Gwyn and Faraam
TheKnightOfTheSeaNameless can use miracles and overall fights more intelligently while Gwyn fights like a mindless hollow lol
Elder Lee HungI think Hollow Gwyn shows much more character than people realize, he stands intently staring into the flame before you arrive, and he guards it quite intensely. I think Gwyn and Nameless were just so powerful that not even the flame could fully burn their souls away.
For comparison, even Yhorm, Aldrich, and the Chosen Undead were burnt to smithereens by the flame lol.
I think it's possible that Gwyn would be able to show more feelings/more powers if he hadn't spent like 1000 years alone staring at a flame lol
Elder Lee HungGwyn also does show some flame magic (pyromancy?) his sword is aflame and he can do that explosion grab attack lol. I can’t picture a mindless zombie using magic like this lol.
