I haven’t watched the Anime so I don’t know. I only saw some little scenes. I don’t think that the Anime is a bad adaptation, it looked good to me.
The good shit begins after the first season.

You can start with the Anime.No fillers at all.But some harsh moments got cutted away.Like Drakken Joe and the bottle.SO,Manga is,as usual better
