The emotional weight of those scenes is entirely predicated on the sacrifice those characters made. Since they didn’t die, they literally sacrificed nothing and so the emotions and thus the scenes, are in fact ruined.

No. The weight one those scene was based on the suffering of Robin. That why those scene are so strong. Again, emotions comes from empathy, not just because you see someone sacrfice themself.

Everything was lost. The idea that Saul literally gave his life for Robin’s happiness is what makes that scene so powerful. He paid the ultimate price just to help this little girl he barely knew he happy.

Again, no. The emotion of the scene comes from EMPATHY and the fact that we see Robin laugh while Saul being frozen to (not)death. We don't feel for Saul, we feel for ROBIN at this moment. In term of storytelling, nothing was lost. In fact, nothing is ever lost by the "rebirth" of a character. Only those who don't know how storytelling work thinks death matter. Death don't matter. The thing that matter, is empathy.
