Gol D. RogerHim and Bogard used to say Katakur beats Rayleigh during OJ days but they seem to think otherwise now.
ZenZuLmao did I? Maybe you meant Marco, I don't remember Katakuri vs Rayleigh, but it would make sense if I entertained it. The logic adds up. Kaidou one shotting Luffy really changed how I look at top tiers now more than ever. Definitely thread worthy though, no doubt.
CineraYeah, prior to Kaido oneshotting Luffy I had mid high tiers like Jozu and Doffy as mid diff fights for admirals.
Then an even stronger Luffy got low diffed, it was pretty eye opening.
CineraThere may have been a time where I was of the position that we shouldn't grant Kaido's feats to tbe other top tiers, it wasn't that top tiers could low diff high tiers in general, but that the apex of current top tiers Kaido could.
CineraOden vs Kaido destroyed Kaido's hype for me though, and I stopped placing him on a greater pedestal than other top tiers.
Cinera@TheAncientCenturion I think @Admiral Lee Hung believes Katakuri could pull the win, so at least one reasonable powerscaler disagrees. @Dragomir was also debating Old Ray vs Katakuri with me in another thread.
Kuri has enough fans that you should see decent arguments from both sides, and not just the usual swordsmen downplay.
CineraPersonally, Old Ray is fast enough to tango with Borsalino in CQC, so he shouldn't have much problem with future sight. He should be capable of much greater range, AOE and DC than even Enma Zoro, and that's already a fuck ton.
Oden's displayed AP and lethality vs Kaido, suggests that top tier swordsmen should have the requisite AP to OHKO even the most durable of high tiers.
Cinera@TheAncientCenturion regarding Ray's stamina he was fresh out of retirement, and he did swim across the calm belt to get to Amazon Lily.
CineraIn addition to Ray's probable top tier AP and lethality he's an extremely proficient COO user in possession of both the barrier and penetration haki forms of ryou. His COA proficiency is so far above Kata that he cannot defend against Ray's attacks and must avoid them.
CineraSo I guess it comes down to if you think Ray can hit Kata despite his FS. Ray could hit Borsalino (who should be even faster than Snakeman, and may also be in possession of Future Sight), so I give him the win.
CineraMid diff in Ray's favour is my endorses position, but I can also see it being a high diff fight. It's also what my powerscaling suggests (low top tier vs high high tier, a one level difference should be mid/high diff for the victor).
CineraIIRC you and @silverfire think Borsalino mid diffs Ray, so you may have Ray lower than I place him.
CineraI think the fight is debatable because reasonable people disagree on the difficulty/outcome, and that's the only criteria that really matters.
