Elder Lee HungI have man. Is it that good? I may need to try it but I was reading Mistborn Book 3 and then got distracted by ASOIAF book 1 lol.
Elder Lee HungOh shit, I just realized Gardens of the Moon is Malazaan and I definitely read that book. Lol
TheKnightOfTheSeaIt's fantastic. It has interesting characters, worlds, and an interesting magic system. The worldbuilding is really fascinating.
TheKnightOfTheSeaGardens of the Moon is definitely my least favorite of all of the books. Erikson's writing style improved a lot by the second novel, and I find most of the plot threads in the future novels to be a lot more easier to understand and just overall better.
Elder Lee HungI remember liking the book, but I also remember not knowing wtf was going on constantly lol. I recall him jumping from characters a lot which ordinarily I like, but I couldn’t identify an overarching plot really iirc.
Like I said I liked it, I remember one ridiculously cool battle scene where people were firing out giant spiraling columns of golden fire but I don’t remember the book in great detail.

there was one really cool fight in the book where 5 dragons took on basically an orc with ice superpowers
TheKnightOfTheSeaThe second book takes place on a completely different continent with only like 5 returning characters from Garden of the Moon btw lol
TheKnightOfTheSeaMy favorite character introduced in GoTM was definitely Anomander Rake(the character in my avi). Parts of his character give me Nameless King vibes
Elder Lee HungI may give the books another shot after I finish Mistborn. I feel like that shit would be straight up amazing once you learn all the characters and terms and histories and such.
TheKnightOfTheSeaYeah. It's definitely one of those series that is probably more impactful on rereads.
There are also way more books than just the main 10. There's two prequel series, a sequel, another series written by a different author, and a collection of short stories
Elder Lee HungYeah I remember reading a Steve Erickson ama, and somebody asked him if he had any tips for getting into his books because there was just so much shit, and he was like “just keep reading, trust me” lol
I respect it though. Man has a vision and doesn’t make concessions.
Red Admiral@TheKnightOfTheSea as man who want to be a fantasy writer, it's a shame to admit ... no. there are no translation of the book in my country ... and I only read stand alone books in English. I will start the story in a year or two. Malazan is top 3 as far as hype goes
