The undisputed king of rice dishes, imo.
I miss how my mom used to make it.

Hey, tbh, it is hard to make at home. Some people say they are eating Biryani but it is just a pulao, like Ghostly said. I prefer to buy it from local shop here, they call Lahori Biryani. Usually, we make it by adding layer of rice over meat. But it is a bit different. And there is a huge difference in taste, probably because of different cooking method/recipe.

Look at the biryani plate at the end of this video for reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CPXlXmEIoLk

The biryani from that shop looks like this. However, the method he used to cook in the video seems to be pulao recipe. I am not sure how they make it, but the taste is unmatched. I will give this recipe a try at home and see how its taste differs from Pulao and regular biryani recipe.

Yeah proper Biryani requires such delicacy, specific ingredients that might not be easy to get ofc, proper cooking methods and such. Plus theres so many interpretations of what the "right kind" of Biryani is too due to different cultures. I think its Wedding Biryani that is traditionally my favourite lol. I love when they add fried onions, fresh coriander and rose water to it! Im probably bastardising it though,

We're just a couple of students getting together and cooking it tbf. But yea, we try to layer it as well, rice & meat in alternating layers. It doesnt taste the same w/o doing so xD

especially as I love adding some lemon juice to my biryanis, some types of curries, naans and what not too, im weird like that lmao.

Yeah a bunch of my neighbours who are Muslim/Pakistani AFAIK make it that way too @notAfanboy , some of them make godly ones, some others not so much lol. Smells absolutely glorious either way though and looks it too!

I'm easily satisfied, as long as it tasted good I dont mind lol.

@Shimotsuki Ghostly Yeah, I have very specific taste when it comes to biryani. Like, when I visit my friends and they hype me up saying we have briyani on menu. Just to be disappointed later finding out either it is just a pulao or knock off biryani. I actually feel betrayed whenever this happens to me.
