By toe to toe you mean he will exchange a few attacks with Kizaru ? Because thats the best he could do right now till some other party, BBP and/or RA arrives and the big event that shocks the worlds happens.

The copium needs to at least wait until Zoro deals with Lucci. Fighting evenly with Lucci so far has downed his stocks, and will remain so until he gets better feats.

@grey matter: that's a silly statement.

Zoro vs Lucci has had only a couple panels of actual combat and Zoro has been fighting:

1. Without his bandana therefore not serious
2. Without Santoryu therefore not trying
3. Without using Haoshoku coating

Meanwhile Lucci has been using his Awakened form all the while. Casual Nitoryu Zoro matching Awakening Lucci is actually great for Zoro's stocks.

As for Zoro fighting evenly with Lucci, the following all fought evenly with Zoro before he decided to stop fucking around:

* Hyouzou
* Monet
* Pica
* Killer
* Apoo

And many of them pushed Zoro farther, actually withstanding some named attacks, facing Zoro with Santoryu or his bandana, or actually hurting Zoro.

Lucci hasn't accomplished anything of note, and his strength was belittled by Zoro.

@gz89: if Luffy is defeating Saturn here, Zoro will defeat Borsalino.

The event that shocks the world could simply be the fall of a Gorosei (and/or) an Admiral.

Zoro defeating Borsalino is exactly what we should expect if Luffy bests Saturn.

It's very likely zoro ends up fighting Kizaru but I'll wait for it to actually happen and analyze how zoro fares against him to conclude confidently he is above the old legends.
I'm still extremely sceptical about the last bit.

@Cinera
I'll be shocked if either Saturn or kizaru are defeated this arc tbh,I think Kuma is the key of the arc and probably his last dance.
We've been focusing on him quite a bit this arc even though the arc doesn't seem to revolve around him which makes me think Oda is preparing something with Kuma and last chapter's cliffhanger seems to tie all the bits together.

@Bil02: I already had Zoro above the Old Legends at the end of Wano.

I only tentatively downgraded him because it looked like Lucci was his big fight this arc, but that doesn't appear to be the case anymore.

@Cinera Amongst those you mentioned, only Killer truely looked like he was going kinda relative with Zoro. Others were treated as flies by Zoro.

Zoro and Lucci have been going at each other for as long as Luffy vs Kizaru. Both of them are huffing. Zoro has smoke around his sword, so he's using KoH, even if it's without advanced conqueror's. Zoro is somewhat serious, and Lucci is going even with him
Cinera
Cinera
Zoro was huffing against random Gifters and other weaklings, so it's not relevant.

Nah, there's no KOH without Haoshoku coating.

Zoro is still fighting without Santoryu or his bandana so he's not taking it seriously.

Zoro did unleash COA on his swords, but he's yet to use a named attack.

Ultimately, Lucci stalemating Zoro in off panel land doesn't mean much.
Cinera
Cinera
Killer actually matched Zoro on panel, not just off panel.

That same Killer was felled by Zoro's first named attack in Santoryu.

It's not clear Lucci would fare any better.
