It's fully CGI and the film was directed by Inoue (the original creator). It's probably the last adaptation we're ever getting.

Like @Tensub said, I'm also waiting on the movie to get subbed in Eng to watch the final match anime. Been waiting on it for 20 years. I'm not a CGI enthusiast but I'll take my fix in any form.

And on the ending, yeah it's tough. Inoue basically said he could never write a better match than Sannoh so he ended it. And I agree, you can't write a more exciting sports manga match than that without introducing super powers to the table lol
