Elder Lee HungYep I agree almost completely. The writer sort of makes Gwyn sound like he was power crazed though, like Gwyn was obsessed with he himself being in charge and that’s why he did the things he did, but I even disagree with that. Gwyn at the end of the day believed his age of fire to be right and just, and that is why he does the “evil” things he does.
Elder Lee HungGwyn is not a power crazed lunatic who wanted to see himself lording over all the rest of the world, if that were the case then he never would have sacrificed himself to begin with but would’ve rather lorded over the populace regardless of whether or not the age of fire was destroyed. The fact that Gwyn sacrificed himself to save the age is ultimately proof of his character, he believed that strongly in the goodness
Elder Lee HungOf the civilization he had built, which was why he was willing to selflessly destroy himself to preserve it.
That’s how I see Gwyn anyway.
SakazOukiAgree with Lee, Gwyn hated darkness above all, which is why he created the dark sign to contain the dark within humanity
Its like the abrahamic god casting humanity out of heaven. Gwyn was possessive of the world because he was literally the god of life, aka light, and his sole goal was eliminating darkness
SakazOukiRinged City also implied that humanity’s true form is hollow, and without fire humanity would’ve dominated the age of darkness.
To prevent that, Gwyn made the first sin by linking the first flame. Gwyn did it to keep his family safe in the age of fire, but as we saw it was no use as the age of darkness came through at the end, which is why it was a sin to mingle with the course of nature
