Not entire character, but characters have offered to stay behind to help with the ship multiple times already, like Sanji, Usopp, and Franky guarding the ship while others walked around Sabaody until Camie got kidnapped.

Well I'm sure Yamato could have helped with guard duty quite a bit after Sanji was getting his ass kicked by Doflamingo and only averted a crisis because Law happened to be there.

I suppose adding to the idea that the female character on the poster is the main villain is how previous promotional posters were presented, because they show Z, Tesoro, and Bullet as particularly big.
