There is not a single reason to assume that Shanks had help or used underhanded tactics aside. People are just on heavy cope. I mean do people seriously think that Oda will show Shanks of all characters in a bad light? Shanks is Odas most protected and glazed character.

I don’t see a way how Oda could write Imugunko out of the picture and replace him with Shamrock. Shamrock is dealing with other things right now and Imu is literally at Elbaph by possessing Gunko.

I would bet on Blackbeard. Xebecs story was basically a build up to Blackbeard. He is destined to accomplish what his Father fought for. He will take Imus head. I think the final fight will be Blackbeard vs Luffy and Koby. It will parallel Xebec vs Roger and Garp.
