You made the statement that oda deemed that Luffy has surpassed katakuri and it won't be the first time of it happens with Kaido.. i mean definitely some had problems with the Katakuri fight but it was meant to be that way .. but its no longer about expectation here its about how you logically...
that was someone who still had comparable strength and combat prowess to Luffy (excluding haki) ..
after awakening semi-FS they were sharing blows evenly .. Luffy just won the battle of attrition, katakuri was still in a relatively pristine shape even after Luffy caught him off guard after kata...
more specifically 1v1 in a competitive blow for blow match..that doesn’t necessarily imply Luffy surpassing kaido coz then we'll have those technicalities weighing against that notion.. and it would actually be dumb portraying Luffy to have surpassed kaido post wano given those technicalities...

have you reread wano comprehensively... it actually matter alot since weekly experience is pretty banal and slow..so you tend to judge off how you view chapters weekly.
