Fair, but it's proof that Yamato's character exists outside of its relationship to Oden. These posts of mine make the case that Yamato has been characterised adequately inspite of and outside her larping as Oden:

I think she still is the Ace of the Beast Pirates (and Kaido did raise her as his son), but she's an ally and prospective Nakama instead. I prefer that to an arc antagonist. Yamato is about the only formidable female combatant in the series. There will be many more enemies for the Strawhats...

That's plausible. I read this as: "she was too weak to oppose her father ", but Jack preventing her from getting beaten by her father works as well. I wouldn't mind another Yamato flashback with Jack. I don't know if we have the time (someone needs to delay Kaido until Luffy returns).

Yeah. I agree with this. I'm just hoping that Oda doesn't make it her "gag". This has been toned down a lot. She rarely mentioned being Oden after she declared her name to be Yamato. If Oda doesn't decided to make it her gag, it will disappear entirely soon enough.

Spitting. Yamato's best moments come from her worship of Kozuki Oden: It's an integral part of her character and who she is even as Yamato. Some folks just hate Oden so much they let their hatred taint everything associated with him. :kayneshrug:

She's actually — by quite a margin — the favourite for next nakama: Her haters are probably just really loud. That or many people think she'll join but detest her anyway.

A reference to the Zoro is Kaido's son theory. Yamato was never loyal to Kaido. She's been imprisoned on Onigashima since she was 8: I don't see how it's treason.

I don't understand this complaint: How many new arc characters are foreshadowed before the arc in which they appear? What foreshadowing were you hoping to see for Yamato? She was mentioned in the same chapter the Tobi Roppo was introduced. Her existence isn't random. Even in the Card theme of...
