It all depends on the level of haki in relation to these characters. Hody for example could bypass Luffy's CoA and bite him despite him using haki, while Hody didn't have haki.

Kid's haki likely aint that strong where it should ignore Hawkin's df entirely, not when caught off guard at least which he probably was caught so.

Even his fire fist is stronger than that. He calls it flame emperor whatever, that's just a punch with a tiny fireball.
