Bumping this thread. I think Smoothie and co. will get proper defeats in the next cover story (if there is one) where Yamato is the star. Oven kind of got his defeat in a cover story.

New theory, the Big Mom Pirates at Wano make their way to the cover stories and get mauled by the Vinsmoke and friends.

The other Big Mom Pirate would have to be Compote (even if she's terribly neglected). But I don't think Oda's giving us those match-ups as much as I'd want them.

Their purpose is long overdue. The match-ups are over. Big Mom's already defeated. We're at Wano's boss battle. And when Onigashima lands, Oda must deject of them somehow. My options: Option A: They remind the Straw Hats who they're still dealing with but flee like Gato's henchmen from Naruto...
