4 means "death" in Japanese. Gear 5 is thus something like "rebirth", "resurrection"... in keeping with Luffy being a Jesus-like figure. Remember, he unlocked Gear 5 by dying and then being revived by his fruit.

Gear 5 is his ultimate gear... any new stuff will be merely further evolution of Gear 5, not an entirely new gear.

a new G5 form is likely as well. Just depends on where Oda draws that line.

The reason I hate G5 is that it seemingly renders all other gears redundant. You can do whatever you want in it, including combining the best parts of other gears. So there doesn't seem to be any purpose in creating any gear after G5 since it does everything anyway. Such a waste.

Exactly. It turns on full Toon Physics mode, and there are no limitations. No limitations = no creativity to get around said limitations. It is exactly the problem introduction of Haki caused, except Haki was kinda necessary to explain how a fist-only fighter like Garp could be a powerhouse in a world full of seemingly invulnerable Logias (although Fishman Karate could have done that instead...?). And Haki only increases power of extant attacks.

Gear Fifth? Luffy can do whatever the toon he wants.

I don’t see a gear 6, he needs to master gear 5 his durability (dependent on plot against kaido he’s able to maintain for a long time whereas against Kizaru he was getting burnt out fast) needs to have a much higher sustain or else fights will be annoying as fuck. Only other form I see for Luffy and it would be a gag would be him getting domi reversid looking like that evil Nika but he’s still somewhat in control and attacks the bad guys still

G6 is definitely coming. Luffy most likely will use new level of haki to achieve it. G5 was peak of his DF powers. This is shounen.

You realize that in Garp and Roger’s discussion, the use of this ability is a one time thing

as in its a one hit thing. You put all your haki in one attack.

Only chopper have 7 forms
Only Zoro can bring out Asura
Only Sanji can burn his legs on fire for no reason

Any more gears would be bad. Even Haki PUs have to be minimised, Oda story writing is on whim.​

But yes, it makes absolutely ZERO sense, logically or thematically, for Luffy to get another gear. What he will get are new Haki powers and further refinements to G5.

The Mc said by himself that was his peak. There’s no need for G6. G5 form is the one that sent Kaido, the strongest creature, flying and probably dead, toying an admiral who on killing mode. We just need that form to be less retard, laughing like a maniac and made the manga like US of A cartoon.
