Questions & Mysteries About Kobra's death

#1
Came accross this today, Kobra was already near dead before he set out to Marejois, something seems fishy here.
Why would he be assassinated if his health was deteriorating, no reason for Oda to add this detail to begin with. The government should know about his condition and if that's the case there'd be no reason to target him. Imu was holding Vivi's picture before the gorosei asked her who to kill so she was the target most likely.
Kobra interfered and ended up sacrificing himself.

It seems like cobra had info about stuff like void century. Probably passed down from his ancestors through the Royal bloodline. So cobra would have been a target anyway I think even though vivi was the main target. But yeah, I can see him sacrifice himself. I just hope he's not brought back in typical oda fashion :pepestrike:

It's possible Oda made Cobra that sick to make it easier on himself to kill him off. Oda hates killing characters, after all. It's part of how he justified Newgate's death. Yes, he was murdered by the Marines and Blackbeard Pirates, but his time was up anyway.

Would've agreed before 1052, the nonchalant deaths of Hawkins, Izo and Asura indicate Oda is well prepared for the final arc, where naturally a lot of people will end up dead. This is also a political offscreen death which makes it easier to execute.
