Speculations Akainu vs Dragon is imminent

#1
Some may have already picked up on this, but it seems that this arc has set up the primary colour trio vs the Monkey D. trio. Firstly, we had Aokiji (and part of the Blackbeard Pirates) against Garp and the new age marines. Now, we're having Kizaru attempting to assassinate Dr. Vegapunk, with Luffy standing in his way as they try and escort him to safety. Now that we've just seen Akainu in action protecting Mariejois from Kuma, I believe that Oda is setting up the final confrontation: Akainu vs Dragon. Whether this is a full on fight, a clash, or just some sort of moment (i.e., revolutionaries trying to escape from the marines with Kuma), I'm not sure.

Since Dragon is scrambling to figure out where Kuma went, and the navy deems him a threat, I wouldn't be surprised if this is how they end up converging. Akainu has access to marines all across the 4 seas and grand line that can search for his wherabouts.

Based on the theme of the last two fights, I speculate that there is some sort of emotional connection between Akainu and Dragon. First we had Aokiji fight Garp, his mentor in the marines. Kuzan even said "you have a habit of raising enemies" which directly references both Dragon and Luffy. In this current battle on Egghead, we have Kizaru coming at odds with two of his old friends; Sentomaru (a "student" of his) and Vegapunk, another old friend that harnessed the power of his fruit for his government weapon development.

The marineford arc alludes to bad blood between Akainu and Dragon, as we see this burning animosity towards Luffy as "the son of Dragon." It's almost as if he cares more about the fact that he's the spawn of the worlds worst criminal than the fact that he's a supernova pirate.

An interesting detail is that Akainu and Dragon are both 55 years old. Perhaps this is a coincidence, but it makes me raise an eyebrow. Garp obviously would have wanted Dragon to become a marine, so perhaps they once trained together. I've seen numerous theories about Dragon defecting from the marines, and perhaps this could be Akainu's "friends to enemies" confrontation for the arc. I mean, I've always wondered what caused Dragon to have his perception of the World Government. It's almost as if he's following his own code of justice as the leader of the revolutionary army. While I'm not entirely sold on the Dragon marine theory, there's at least some form of bad blood between them. After all, "The World's Worst Criminal" is the direct foil to Akainu's ideals and his sense of justice. It may have been as simple as them being two friends that grew up together but some sort of event caused them to go their separate ways (like Shanks and Buggy). Imagine the chain of causality if Dragon kept seeing the darkness within the marines/WG and Sakazuki kept seeing the darkness within piracy. As Doflamingo said, justice is determined by the victor. There are good marines, bad marines, good pirates, bad pirates. That greyness leading them to their own senses of justice would be very impactful in a flashback.

Let me know what you guys think!

Other panels supporting this rivalry
Dragon said that he will carry the will of Ohara, and we have Sakazuki nuking the civilian ship

Sakazuki wanted to execute Dragon's son over Roger's son, the pirate king devil himself

Sakazuki being hellbent on eliminating these brothers

Sakazuki looking mad af that Luffy escaped. Look at Kizaru and Aokiji chilling lol

Leader of the Naval fleets Vs Leader of the Revolutionary army, it is definitely an option

Yeah. Elbaf is seemingly built on Norse Myth, and Viking Lore where Norse Myth ends with the World Tree being burned by magma giant.

Seems like the perfect place for Sakazuki especially with Luffy defeating his closest friend in the marines now and Luffy actively stating he’s going to Elbaf next before Lucci released all details of their plans to Kizaru.
huh, well that sounds pretty cool.

I think that since Raid ended, We are having Sub-Plot for each Admiral, not just OG Trio

Scenario 01:

Ryokugyu's Justice is Demonstrated
He ends up Targeting a New-Gen Character Momonosuke
Momonosuke showcases his Signature Attack "Blast Breath"
Shanks intervenes to save Momo (And co.) from Ryo

Scenario 02:

Aokiji's Justice is Demonstrated
He ends up Targeting a New-Gen Character Koby
Koby showcases his Signature Attack "Honesty Impact"
Garp intervenes to save Koby (And co.) from Aokiji

Scenario 03:

Kizaru's Justice is Demonstrated
He ends up Targeting a New-Gen Character Atlas (Not Exclusively ofc)
Atlas is gonna showcase her Signature Attack "Ultra Mighty Punch" (This is why She was given Light Gloves)
Luffy intervenes to save Atlas (And co.) from Kizaru

PS: Bonney could replace Atlas in this Scenario (But doubtful cuz Bonney already used Named Attack)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After this Egghead Incident, We are gonna have Two more Sub-Plots

Scenario 04:

Fujitora's Justice is gonna be Demonstrated/Highlighted
He ends up Targeting a New-Gen Character Vivi
Vivi will showcase her Signature Attack (Indicating She might eat a DF soon)
A Top Tier will intervene to save Vivi (And co.) from Fujitora (Possible Candidates are Dragon, Mihawk or a New Character)

Scenario 05:

This leaves us with Akainu who imo is only left with Hancock's Sub-Plot
Imo after Hancock decides to enter New World, Akainu says that they cannot let such Strong Individual join any of Emperors
And since other Admirals are busy, Akainu will have no choice but to go himself
New-Gen Character who will Unlock their Signature Move in this Scenario is Marguerite
And Top Tier who will Fight Akainu to make sure Hancock makes it to New World is none other than Rayleigh

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So Overall:

Shanks vs Ryo
Garp vs Aokiji
Luffy vs Kizaru
Dragon or Mihawk vs Fujitora
Rayleigh vs Akainu

Five Kids demonstrate their Potential (Momo as Shogun of Wano, Koby as Garp's Successor, Marguerite as New Kuja Queen, Vivi as New Arabasta Queen and Atlas as New Vegapunk)

It should also be noted that Ryo was revealed to think Highly of Akainu, Aokiji was revealed to be a Subordinate of BB, Kizaru was revealed to have brought Saturn with him, so there is a High Chance that Fuji & Akainu also have a Character who They treat as their Superior during their Sub-Plot

That's a really good theory, and even if there's not a full-fledged fight but a short clash, I would still appreciate it. Imo Dragon could be an ex-marine, who grew to despise their ways (similarly to how Koby is shown in LA) and ended up founding the RA. Moreover, Dragon's connection to Vegapunk might imply he got to know him during some joint projects in the past.

Damn, now I want a Dragon flashback!
