Yes I think it's a material choice. He probably wants to save the best for last. He is prominently making the Scabbards fight off Kaido, just like entertaining nothing special with Big Mom, apart from her interactions with Marco and Perospero. This arc has nowadays yet to enter its crucial stage, this is why 2021 will still have Wano as primal subject matter.
