I don't really like luffy's fruit being nika and a zoan, but im ok with the gods in the story since it seems none are actual divine gods. Its just that "legends are tales that occured in the distant past" quote from early one piece. And Luffy's powers are mostly just making the environment rubber and being way more free with his stretching, so its easy to still see him as a rubber human. I don't care that joyboy had the same fruit tbh, I always figured the poneglyphs would relate to Luffy and the D and I just expect some prophecy shit as a matter of course in shonen manga lol.
The eyes mean nothing to me lol, imu isn't using sharingan powers his eyes just have a ring in them. The reincarnations really don't bother me either for the same reason, its just aesthetic. It seems more that Luffy just was the unlikely kid who happened to have the exact personality to become the worthy king of pirates. Oda hasn't said anything about luffy having joyboys soul or anything.
I like and have always expected that the fights are much bigger now and that there are secretly living people from the ancient past, i don't love that the god fruits have turned every discussion into "woah who has the god fruits." I've liked meeting allies of Joyboy alive for 800 years the past few arcs, but I do wish they gave us a bit more of a window to the past.
