Assassin's Creed Shadows ( 20 March, 2025)

With the way Ubisoft has handled this game, I genuinely believe that Ubisoft knows it is about to go bankrupt regardless of what they do and decided "let's make a game that enrages the Japanese" cause I don't think they could have done a better job of making the Japs apoplectic.

Destructible shrines, female sumo wrestler, they make a historical nobody slave retainer a full fledged samurai and have him be in a relationship with a historical empress that is the real life ancestor of multiple Emperors, disrespect actual legendary samurai like Hanzo Hattori, announced a release date that coincided with the worst terrorist attack in Japan's modern history and apparently an OST with a music piece that sounds like a black guy is repeatedly shouting "CHING CHONG!!!" in the background.

Ubisoft knew that the company ship is inevitably sinking, knew the fans wanted an AC game set in Japan for ages and decided to give everyone the middle finger.

The game is strangely intriguing in how extraordinarily spiteful it is. :risicheck:
Aight, I HAVE to find a way to play this game now lmaooooo

It's interesting how Nioh had both the protagonist and main villain(s) be foreigners, and yet, no bitch fits were pitched then.

Oh wait, William was white and Yasuke was black.

---

@Owl Ki Oichi wasn't an Empress, she was a Daimyo's wife. And she already had her daughters with Nagamasa Azai before Yasuke ever came into the picture.

Thats a stupid arguement and you know that.

First: nobody would care if Yasuke is in the game if Ubislop self not proudly said their game would be historical correct.
Second: William's story is historical covered- Yasuke's not. Only one historian believes in this fanfiction and thats Thomas Lockley- the author of the metioned fanfiction.
And third: Nioh also had Yasuke but Nioh Devs never claimed their game would be historcal accurate-Obislop did.

The point of the whole Yasuke plot is that Ubislop absolutlely wanted a black dude as protagonist to fill their DEI boxes, even to the point were they praticised Historical revisionism. And thats what let to the downfall of this game. That and the fact they want to "own the chuds".

Please, if this game's protagonist was William Adams or Jan Joosten van Lodensteijn, shitheads on the internet wouldn't have batted an eye.

Yasuke is really a historical novelty, sure. But it's not like William Adams actually ever fought on a Japanese battlefield, and shit, in Nioh, he gets to have a kid with a fictionalized counterpart of one of Ieyasu's daughters. Again, no one raised a fuss because he's white, so it's okay then.

-Edit: Also, if anyone ever believes an Assassin's Creed game is historically accurate then they are a fucking idiot.

You really did not engage with the arguements of the opposite side, thats because your only reaction is "Oh it's racissm!" Grow up man.

And no the only thing that is stated to be historical accurate is that he was in Japan for six months under Nobunagas care. Nothing about the whole samurai bs, thats Lockleys work which he sprayed all over wikipedia to sell his Yasuke fanfiction. Until he got caught and since then nobody heard of him. But yeah,if you want to believe a scammer,go for it.

And again, Nioh Devs never said their gamr would be historical accurate, Ubisoft did.

And dont let me start with the whole Yasuke slaying japanese people with a south african rap song playing in the background - Ubisoft know what they did there.

I already said Yasuke is a historical novelty. But again, Adams was really one, too. He was at best, an advisor, in real life. But if he was the hero in this game, there would have been no controversy. And so what? A sword bearer isn't as admittedly prestigious as being a Bannerman, but it still is a samurai position.

So yeah, it does come down to being "White man: Yay! Black man: Boo!".

And again, if you believed Ubisoft, then you're an idiot.

-Edit: I will give you the rap thing, though.

they're not wrong though, AC and Ubisoft has always been C tier at best
Nah, old AC games are much more fun.

When the game had a linear story line and combat revolved around flashy insta kills, the games were fun.

When the games became garbage open world RPGs and the combat became a grinding level up system where you couldn't beat a random peasant because he has a Legendary hat on his head, that is when these games became outright unplayable as far as I am concerned.

I meant to type "historical figure" but since I had Emperors on the brain when I was typing that, I accidentally called her an Empress. It's fixed now.
