Versus Battle AU: Battle of Nanyou || Supreme Cmdr Ri Shin - 80K VS 100K ZHAO + CHU [READ

#1
NANYOU HAS FALLEN
Wounded early in battle by General Ri Shin of the Hi Shin Unit, Han's Second General is forced to order a hasty retreat to prevent a route. General Hakuou Koku and his men form an orderly retreat to the capital, where Raku'A Kan awaits the gathering armies of Han.

As Han gathers its strength, Great General Tou marches ahead of the Shintei response to preside over a flow of reinforcements sent to man the abandoned castles and garrisons across the region. Within a matter of days, he assumes control over 1/3 of Han and consolidates a new fighting force of 150,000 troops to defend their new holdings.

Tou anticipates trouble and sends word to Qin for additional reinforcements as soon as possible.

While in command of Nanyou, Shin is joined by Heki and 20,000 well trained men, including General Kou Ryuu and Commander Hyou Shiga. They are under orders to join the Tou Army as soon as they finish consolidating when word reaches them of four emerging threats.

In the NORTH, 40,000 Zhao led by Ki Sui and Fu Tei managed to slip across the Yellow River aboard ships supplied by Han and march on Nanyou with haste.

At the same time, in the SOUTH, 60,000 Chu march on Nanyou through Wei territory unhindered.

And lastly, from the EAST: 200,000 Han led by Raku'A Kan and Hakuou Koku march on Tou's position with disciplined speed. They are followed by 130,000 Wei led by Go Hou Mei and Gai Mou only two days behind.

The enemy plans to cut off reinforcements from Nanyou and force Tou to face the might of Shintei and Dairyou alone.

Set on reaching his generral before it is too late, General Ri Shin plans to give battle to the armies of Zhao and Chu, and defeat them quickly before marching at speed to gather the remaining garrisons on the way to Tou.

GENERAL RI SHIN VERSUS THE ARMIES OF ZHAO AND CHU

After a fight threatens to spill over, the temperate Lord Ki Sui concedes command to Kou Yoku on the one condition he stakes his army in the rear. General Haku Rei is to commit all forces at once to soften the HSU's lines and conceal Kou Yoku's movements and numbers. Ki Sui and Fu Tei assume command on the wings.

ZHAO + CHU ARMIES - 100,000
Code:
WING -- 20K Ki Sui Army (Deputy: Ba Tei)
WING -- 20K Fu Tei Army
CNTR -- 30K Haku Rei Army
REAR -- 30K Kou Yoku Army [CiC] (Deputy: Ka En)
The enemy advance within reach of Nanyou and settle in a line formation to deploy their vast numbers: =|===|=

How should General Ri Shin respond?

He has a strategist, three generals and an additional elite 5K Cmdr.

Some questions to consider:
  • What formations are likely to work best?
  • Who should he be entrusting with armies and in which places?
  • What match ups should Shin favour?
  • Is Shin better off defending from inside the city or taking the fight to the enemy?
  • How long could the Tou Army manage to hold out outnumbered more than 2:1?
  • How should Shin use the additional resource of Heki, Kou Ryuu and Hyou Shiga to his advantage?
  • Does Shin have the resources to defeat the armies of Zhao and Chu in time to rescue Great General Tou?
Assume the enemy armies are fully equipped for a siege and well supplied for drawn out combat.

Consider these my snap-shot "canon" stats for these characters
Code:
QIN
Ri Shin STR 96+A LDR 92 INT 84
Kyou Kai STR 97+A LDR 88 INT 90
Ka Ryo Ten STR 40 LDR 90 INT 93
Heki STR 83 LDR 89 INT 88
Kou Ryuu STR 87 LDR 88 INT 90 Loyalty to Shou Hei Kun: 100
Hyou Shiga STR 91 LDR 84 INT 87 Cavalry Commander: 99

ZHAO
Ki Sui STR 87 LDR 92 INT 91
Fu Tei STR 92 LDR 88 INT 88
Ba Tei STR 92 LDR 85 INT 82

CHU
Kou Yoku STR 95 LDR 90 INT 83 Bakuya Sword: 97
Haku Rei STR 94 LDR 88 INT 90 Ten Bows: #4
Ka En STR 90 LDR 87 INT 92

The way I think this would go:
General Ri Shin reads the intentions of the enemy and deploys his armies in an inverted wedge formation: \☰/

Heki is paired with Hyou Shiga to boost his army's offense. Kyou Kai gets Kou Ryuu as a deputy to help manage her army.

His intent would be clear: if they mean to slay him, he means to let them try.

QIN - 80,000
Code:
WING - 20K Kyou Kai Army (Deputy: Kou Ryuu)
WING - 20K Heki Army (Lieutenant: Hyou Shiga)
CNTR - 30K Ri Shin Army (Vice General: So Sui)
RESV - 10K Ka Ryo Ten Army
Ka Ryo Ten and Heki would counsel against the plan, but Kyou Kai and Hyou Shiga would probably see the potential. By drawing in the enemy into their formation like a funnel, all three of them may have the opportunity to strike at enemy commanders. Ka Ryo Ten in the reserve can assist wherever most neccesary or opportune to slay an enemy commander.

MATCH UPS
