This Balerion is Of during the Conquest or Start of the Conquest of Aegon Targaryen.

Balerion was Born in 114 BC And Aegon Conquest Started in 2 BC , Which makes Balerion around 112 Years Old at the time of Conquest.

Note : This Balerion has Zero Battle Experience, as Targaryen Never went to a serious War with anyone before the Conquest. And Balerion canonically had no Rider for 100 years.

Vs

Vermithor During House of the dragon.

Vermithor was born in 34 AC and It was said he was kept in Jaeharys Craddle , who was also born in year 34 AC , Jaeharys ruled for 55 years with Vermithor. Till 103 AC. Which makes Vermithor 71 Year old during his death. And House of the dragon which takes place in 129-131 AC. Which makes Vermithor 99~ Aroundish year old. Or 100+ year Old.
This Vermithor is Battle Hardened and War Veteran. He was the Third largest dragon in the entirety of Targaryen history at just 100 year old.

Also , I expect them to be nearly the same size as their age was similar.
Balerion wasn't the largest during the Conquest. He was largest while nearing his 200th Birthday lol.
Vhagar was nearly as big as Balerion itself at 180 Year old. Given more 30 years she might have outgrown Balerion himself.

dragon anatomy works like that only , they keep growing until they die.

So

112 Years Old Balerion the Black Dread
V/S
100 Years Old Vermithor the Bronze Fury

Balerion is pretty much hyped as the strongest Targaryen dragon so far so i'm going with him.
George said himself that he'd rather ride Balerion if he could have a dragon or when he was asked about Drogon against Smaug he said he wouldn't stand a chance but maybe Balerion could give him a fight so it's kinda obvious that in his mind Balerion is the strongest.

Yea understand about the him being the strongest at a time.
But I'm talking about A pretty new balerion who's new to battle himself.
We have no record of balerion ever going for a battle before conquest , He has never fought a dragon.
Whereas Vermithor at this age is battle hardened , huge and experienced.
Not to forget he took down Sea smoke and tessarion in a 1v2. Without a rider.

How big is Smaug to a ASOIAF dragon? As I believe Smaug was actually kind of a small fry in the Tolkien lore.

Vermithor, as battle hardened and ferocious as it is, isn't very battle smart as far as I can tell, so I don't think Balerion's relative lack of experience means much. Given Balerion's hype, I think it's safe to say it was larger than Vermithor at a similar age. It's flames are also hyped to be very potent. All in all, I'd say Balerion wins against almost all dragons at a similar ages with the only possible exception being Caraxes.

So, the show runners of House of the Dragon say that Vhagar, who is the second biggest known dragon before Balerion, is 90 meters in length with a wingspan of 150 meters. Or in Imperial, 295 feet long and 492 feet long.

This size we are talking about , was balerion final size. Vhagar currently is what balerion size was at peak.
I'm pretty sure about the fact there's no evidence of Balerion ever having a fight prior to Conquest.
And talking about vermithor he is huge as well. 3rd largest as of now and almost 80 years younger than Vhagar.
And about being smart in a battle , He took down both Seasmoke and Tessarion in a single fight.
I personally don't think so , balerion is taking this one.
Caraxes is wild Card , He won against Vhagar but it was a suicide match and also he had a very good Rider , Daemon Targaryen, he's probably the best if not , one of the best among all the riders.

They have not given an official size for Vermithor, but as they are the second biggest dragon in the Dance, at the absolute bare minimum, they'd be at least 225 feet long.

Balerion. Vermithor is my favorite Targaryen Dragon, but Balerion. Balerion is larger and has fought more battles.

If it’s old Balerion then sure, Vermithor but prime Balerion vs prime Vermithor is a win for Balerion. Maybe 60/100 times.

My dude you are confusing 100 year old Balerion to be the largest.
He wasn't largest at that time , He grew till 200 years like Vhagar grew till 184.
Balerion largest size was at the oldest age of 214 years old.

And Prior to conquest Balerion had no Battle Experience at all.
I didn’t read the OP. If it’s pre-Conquest Balerion vs prime Vermithor, then Vermithor. He would’ve been much larger and had more battle experience.
