It's me again with some non ground-breaking theories. If you think that Big Mom as Mugiwara is too much, you can instead think of her as a future ally and it will do the trick. Here, i will theorize why Big Mom will return and become a Mugiwara, or at least, one of the most powerful allies of the Mugiwaras. First things first, let's name the arcs where she was highlited.
1st: Thriller Bark
Thriller Bark is the first arc where Big Mom was better introduced, through her daughter Charlotte Lola. There, Lola, after befriending the Mugiwaras, gave Nami a Vivre Card of Big Mom and affirmed that if they were in trouble, they could ask help to Big Mom. However, as of now, Big Mom never, at least not intentionally helped the mugiwaras, right? But Oda does not miss a trick. Check out this image from the chapter 489, page 16:
Lola can simply be naive, but i don't think it is that simple. I think Lola might have her reasons to believe that Big Mom is still a kind person and she can be actually a helpfull ally in the future.
2nd:Zou
Here, for the first time, we see Luffy considering the idea of having underlings. And guess which crew would be his underlings?
PS: let's not forget that the Straw Hat Grand Fleet became the underlings of Luffy on their own, Luffy didn't want them as underlings, and again, Oda does not miss a trick. Why to talk it exactly about the Big Mom Pirates?
3rd: Whole Cake
Here is where we learn most of Big Mom's overall life story, motives, personalities and all else. All of her flashback shows that she is trapped in a life of illusion, unfinished business and lies, and her story with the giants is unfinished. In the chapter 834, page 2, she reveals to Caesar Clown that she has the dream of uniting all of the races of the world and make a big meal. Cheack the picture below:
Compare to this one, from chapter 1138, page 15:

My take here is: Big Mom, at some momment right after trying to make an alliance with Elbaf again by fooling Loki with Chiffon, before being kicked from Elbaf, she saw the same mural that Ripley showed to Franky and started to believe in Nika, better yet, SHE WANTED TO BECOME NIKA HERSELF TO UNITE ALL OF THE RACES OF THE WORLD, SO THE GIANTS WOULD BELIEVE IN HER AND FOLLOW HER ON THEIR OWN. She then asked Caesar Clown to giantify artificially the children of Punk Hazard and convince herself that she does not need the giants, but in the end of the day, the one that will be able to giantify everyone will be Luffy in his most free mode, as i believe that he will able to share his powers with his crew, and as we already saw during his final battle against Kaidou, he was able to giantify himself. Also, in the mural, we can see that Luffy has united several races for a common goal: defeat Imu. Ironic, right? A guy with cloud-like smoke around his neck being able of giantification, but not the one Big Mom expected to, shurororo. Not to mention that both Big Mom and Luffy share a dream of feeding people across the world and living a crafree life.

4rd: Wano.
While Wano is the place where she first faced a bitter defeat against the generation that gives name to this site, her last words were definitively not the words of someone that accepeted defeate and is ready to Rest in One Piece. Quite the opposite. Let'sw remember the page 11 of the chapter 1040:
Our crazied mother has still some screen time to show us, and she didnt see Luffy in his Nika mode, who know what her reaction will be?
Or perhaps, i might be simply wasting time and Oda has already proved us that Big Mom left a lot of motherless child in the world. Like the cover page of the chapter 1064 where Purin was apparently holding a Vivre Card of Big Mom burning and disappearing in thin air while being captured by Kuzan and Van Augur:

Wrong, for as far as we know, this piece of paper could be nothing but the memories of Sanji that Purin stripped outta our favorite blonde simp chef's head after kissing him, simply because she would not want anyone else peeking her intimate momments (a lady of respect after all), or the memory simply faded into nothingness after Purin was handcuffed with seaprism. Check out the next image, just one page after this one:
Here, in the page 1 of chapter 1064, Purin herself does not confirm that Big Mom is dead, despite the words of Van Augur (i think Hya Ha Ha is his laugh), and instead raises a big "?" mark on the head of the fans, and if the translation here is accurate, we can discard the idea that the piece of paper disappearing in the cover page is a Vivre Card of Big Mom, otherwise, Purin would have already confirmed her death.
5th: Elbaf.
While not being the focus of the arc, Big Mom was noticeable being remembered of during the Elbaf arc, specailly because of her troubled past with the giants.
The chapter 1142 is the greatest hint of her return, but not the only one (i'm somewhat lazy to add all her mentions here). Let's see the image of the page 14 from the chapter 1142:
While the picture shows several MMA monsters (The nightmare creatures generated by Limoshiff Kirigham), two pictures are very familiar here: the scary woman right below the ghost on the bottom left, and the lightning cloud in the center could lilkely make us remember of Big Mom and either Zeus/Hera.
PS: the other MMA monsters are likely refferences to the other arcs talked about here
The ghosts,the draugr and the bear: Thriller Bark (Perona and Brook), and either Kuma/Kumasy of Perona.
The wolf, the bird and the dragon: Wano (Possible refference to Yamato and the Kouzuki symbol clan, and the Dragon beheaded by Ryuuma)
Evil Nika, the giant warrior: Elbaf (Refference to their fear of Loki and violent giants in general).
6th: Other
As Luffy became a Yonkou, we can notice thatthe new generation of Yonkou (Black Beard,Luffy and Buggy kinda have a standard)
Buggy: Has former warlords in his crew (Crocodile, Mihawk, and who knows in the future Gecko Moriah and Doflamingo)
Black Beard: Has a former Admiral in his crew (Kuzan)
If we follow this logic, Luffy would have Big Mom as a future Mugiwara.
Rocks Pirates: As a member of Rocks Pirates and former Yonkou, Big Mom has a dream that could be fufilled by Luffy, just like Kaidou and White Beard:
Kaidou: Bringing the world to the greatest war seen
Big Mom: Unite all of the races
White Beard: Having a family.
They all presumably believe in Nika, or believe themselves as a possible reincarnation of Nika.
Besides, it's a common thing of Oda of bringing former enemies as allies
Kaido and Big Mom could represent the two sides of Nika.
Kaido: The evil one that brings destruction, as he wants to stats the greatest war the world has seen
Big Mom: the "peaceful" hat wants to unite all the races of the world. Two sides of the same coin.
