Chainsaw Man. Though tbf we only have part 1 of CSM to judge from. I love the crazy over the top vibes CSM has at moments. It's a bit different than other shonen things because it's not afraid to show all the gore and be grim. It's more serious than Black Clover, and it explores its smaller world better. Makima is amazing. As much as I love Yami and Julius, Makima is objectively a better written character. The twists in CSM are great as well. I love the side characters too. The author isn't afraid of killing off characters, and it's not always followed by cringe flashbacks. The female cast in CSM is top tier. Legit not a single female is mistreated. Power>Makima>Reze>Quanxi>Master/Himeno>
If I were to compare it like in the previous thread
I like Denji more. While his simping ways can be annoying, I like how different he is from the other typical MCs. Asta is annoying as well, but I also like him, I just prefer Denji.
As I said I think Makima is objectively a better written char than Julius or Yami or Mereoleona, however if I had to rank them based on how much I like them it would be something like this
Aki>=/=Yuno
Power>Noelle
Julius>=Yami/Makima
Power>Makima>Any female in BC
I'd say I prefer the chars in CSM. From the main cast to the supporting cast. Power, Makima, Denji, Aki, Kishibe, Quanxi, Reze, Himeno, Yoshida, Angel Devil, Master etc.
Both stories have interesting premises. I like both, but I feel CSM is more mature and prefer it a tiny bit.
CSM. CSM does wonders with the little world we have now and the foreshadows for what's to come later. BC is great in this department too but we've only recently got to explore more of it.
Giving this one to CSM due to part 1's big bad. Don't wanna spoil in case anyone wants to check it out, but anyone who read CSM definitely knows what I am talking about.
Not to say that BC villains are bad. I love Zenon, Mars, Vanica. Zagred is interesting as well. But the aforementioned villain of CSM trumps them all.
