So, im going to point out what most people think. I think that BB is related to Rox, in fact i think he is the son of Rocks. I hope i can convince you why i think that Teach is the son of rocks.
First of all, the rocks pirates started out on the Pirate island beehive, where they sought out a quick road to fame. 38 Years ago when Rocks supposedly died, the island was without an owner. we can probably assume that someone colonized the island during that time. but 1 year ago after blackbeard became a yonko, he thought that he was strong enough to take back what should be his: His father's inheritence.

second, in Vivre card Pack Vol. 3 its stated that Blackbeards Main ship is called: ''The Saber of Xebec''. Sound familiar? well its the name of Rocks D. XEBEC (duhhh). so BB probably named his ship after his late father, to honor him.

Third, lets look at the age. Blackbeard is 40 years old. Rocks died 38 years ago. So Blackbeard was 2 years old when Rocks died. why am i saying this. because oda likes to draw his charachters as kids even before they have had their backstories. and he drew Blackbeard like this:

He looks ruffed up and poor. almost like he lives on the streets. Its almost like he HAS NO PARENTS. or at least no dad. Maybe he lived with his mother, but i honestly doubt it. Now lets look at his name. Like most D's he takes the name D. from his/her parents, just like Monkey D. dragon --> Monkey D. Luffy. Gol D. Roger --> Portgas D. Ace. but his name isnt Rocks D. Teach, inst it. Well, not all One piece charachters get their name form their father. Look at Ace, his name is Portgas D. Ace, from Portgas D. Rouge. So maybe, his Mother's name is Marshall D. something...... ,or he just changed his name, to go unnoticed. When he heard who his father was, he began to look up to him and wanted to carry out his mission.
Finally, in the flashback we see Rocks laughing hard. And i want to bet that when we finally see a flashback of him, he will laugh similair or the same as Blackbeard. Or in this case Blackbeard laughs the same as him.
Now, Blackbeard will probably take over his father's will and finish his mission to become king of the world.
