I believe Saturn's Fruit requires you to be looking at him in order to function. All people hit with his power so far have been looking directly at him, but, we see he can control it since he used it against Marines who looked at him but not the Straw Hats and Vegapunk. When Kuma looks back at Saturn, his head explodes, not before.

If this is the case, Brook will rescues Bonney, because he has no eyes to see Saturn with. SKULL JOKE POWER AT ITS MAXIMUM.

BROOK HYYYYYYYYYYYYYYPE, FUCK EYES, WHO EVEN NEEDS THEM? Look at Fujitora and Brook ruining the New World with no eyes, WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

As it has been foreshadowed all along.

Interesting theory, however one of the other threads pointed out Brook is in same room with Robin and Kaku who are injured. If BB infiltrates there's nobody other than Brook to fight.

Holy shit. They were trying to summon Saturn, and got Brook instead.

YOOOOOOOOOOOO THAT'S SO FUNNY, Kuma's like, "Fuck this false genocidal gone, here, have Soul King, instead, he's way cooler."

I think Robin could put up a bit of a fight still, but, yeah: I definitely see Laffitte And Catarina trying to kidnap Robin and the Serpahim, since Blackbeard showed interest in the Seraphim on Amazon Lily while fighting S-Hawk, and Blackbeard wants to be able to read Poneglyphs, when Pudding still hasn't awakened her powers, as far as we know.

No. They were trying to summon something much stronger than Saturn.

It is theorized the number of points the star has relates to the actual strength of the summon. That's a 8 pointed star, while Saturn is 5 pointed star.

...What if Brook's Satanist buddies were actually trying to summon Imu???

But they couldn't because Imu is already summoned from hell...

Why are there sacrifices every 3 years? They call them hunting games, but really what do they accomplish, they don't need to kill everyone to take away resources, they could just conquer them or force them to pay tax / tribute.
There's a very dark explanation here, that's I'm kind of scared to get into.

Many ancient religions justified murdering children in particular, but also adults, in ritual sacrifices, in order to appease their gods.

There's a chance Imu actually feeds off of these rituals, and that the Gorosei and Celestial Dragons murdering innocents gives them power. Luffy/Nika is powered by the hopes of other people, and destroys himself to fight for them. Imu is powered by the fear/despair of other people, and destroys people to gain power.

I am wondering whether anyone or anything kills off Gorosei and then a new one gets selected through the summonings.

The Gorosei really fear Imu.
