Buggy is low-key one of the most loyal characters in the series (outside of a few scenes in Orange Town). Even though his OG crew is certified trash, he still had them in high levels of his business. The person alive Buggy respects most is Shanks, IMO. To me, Buggy has always resented that he didn't take being a pirate as serious as Roger and Shanks did.
When Roger, his Captain died, Buggy cried his heart out: it's clear he truly loves his Nakama. Buggy is like Moria: once he saw how painful it was to see Nakama you love die, he decided to focus on finding treasure, rather than fighting, which is why he operated in the East Blue, the weakest sea.
Buggy and Shanks have always been shown on equal footing, on some level. They were both on Roger's crew in the same rank, and now have the same rank as Yonkou (hoooo boy). If Shanks does die/gets hurt, I think the one who will lose his mind is Buggy. Buggy has spent this entire series fighting for himself.
I always wondered where the fuck Oda was going with Buggy and Shank's relationship, since how close they are has been showcased so many times through One Piece. Hell, a good deal of Shanks' appearances feature Buggy.
Red Hair will die or be seriously harmed, and Red Nose will Awaken in a fury, finally fighting for his friend. Buggy will go from being a meme, to fighting for the sake of his Nakama, once again, just like did upon Roger's ship.
