Cavendish and the Most Magical Dressrosa Moment

#1
In a series where the fantastical is frequent the wonder of the world can easily pass us by, Dressrosa is shown as a land of toys and passion. We see fighting fish and watch the colosseum all in an exaggerated Spain in an arc where Oda draws together more cultures/countries than any other's. All aligned for a common goal (ultimately a beautiful makeup for our main alliance).
But for however much I love the arc I can't say the adventure was taken as far as Oda often aims, we get a Gulliver's Travels moment with Robin; but the Lilliputians fall second to the fan service.
The toy's?
I love Soldier San but the uniqueness fell to a fruit; even toy crafting not being apart of their culture.
And as far as "races," the "race" of the dwarves were (and are) fun but as Oda throws races out like candy (especially now) it's easy to see them as another exaggerated (shrunken) person and pass them by.
But Cavendish doesn't; amidst the tragic and triumphant turmoil of the battle for Dressrosa we sit with the Pirate Prince; an archetypical fantasy figure amongst the flower fields.
Name/epithet deeply tied to england, adventure, romanticism, fantasy, and therefore the setting of Dressrosa/other aspects of the arc itself.
An often self absorbed swordsman who on the surface seems shallow but from the moment we met him and he waxed poetics on the bloodlust of the common person and the shameful spectacle of the colosseum; had a more insightful eye.
And through those eyes what did he witness?
Little people.
Those soft eyes, that soft smile, sitting criss cross like a child and the serenity of the scene as he soaks in the how special this is.
Cavendish isn't just at sea as he's too popular or to protect people from his slasher-self; no he's a pirate in all ways, adventuring included.
And his epiphany; Cavendish has an ego and wouldn't see himself as second but he saw the direction of the era and knew where he'd have to be for a first row seat to the conflicts and climax to follow.
This moment more than any must be where if the idea of the fleet was floating at all, Cavendish knew he would follow Luffy; who was this friend as Lucy and ally through all of the conflict of Dressrosa and someone he ultimately admires (and believes admires him).
There's a lot more to say on Cavendish; Cabbage, The Pirate Prince and of the "White Horse," half and half with the "Carving Winds of Rommel," Hakuba who he's tamed after years of struggle, a "genius of the sword," skilled and graced with finesse of style, a sitter on the couch and Captain of the First Ship of the Strawhat Grand Fleet; but this is the page that struck me most recently and I had to ramble in appreciation of the future 2nd greatest swordsman in the world :feelscryingman:
