While I enjoy this flashback, I'm kinda annoyed with Shin's bio dad.
Other than that - can't wait to see how it wraps up and how the current timeline goes on, as well!

The flashback got too complicated for nothing imo - this dude not even being his bio dad does not make Shin any deeper than he was already (the dude thinks to himself "why did I save this kid that time" when he was still a toddler, which is imo as explicit as it can be that he isn't really his bio dad)

Just have him be his real father, he gives him up, regrets it internally but never shows it, and have him die with regrets or have his last words be a declaration of love come late.
