Chapter Discussion Chapter 404: Speculation

Out!

Things are really heating up.

Salkov's inner monologue about Tserriednich is legendary:
"The expectations he sets for himself, his whole attitude ... it's so far removed from what an average guy like me can comprehend. He manifests his own destiny. He talks the talk and walks the walk! I have no doubt he'll succeed!"

The sad news from C400 was about "Halkenburg's" death. Who would've thought? Togashi is insane for this. It seems there's so much going on off-screen that will get the focus later.
  • Nobunaga said, "Depending on their answer, we might have to go all out as well." I wonder what he wants to confirm about Heil-Ly that would make the PT go all out. Is it their possible past crimes in Meteor City? Though that would be the former Heil-Ly gang and not Morena's new gang, as they didn't start that long ago.
  • I don't know if this is a hint or a red herring about Beyond's kid, but Togashi is cooking either way. Fans noticed several panels where Tser looks like Netero. His talent might be too much to be random; it'd explain a lot if it’s the Netero genes. If true, then maybe Netero was aware of Tser being his grandson, considering his comment about human Malice/Evolution. It's like he's partially referring to Tserriednich as an example he was aware of, and maybe he’s referring to Beyond as well.
And there are already interesting parallels between Meruem and Tser. Meruem is like the more human version of him:
  • Meruem was born as a cruel ant king but later figured out that there are things more important than power or ruling the world. In the end, he became a human in a monster's skin.
  • While Tser is eager to be a king, hungry for power, and skins people for art, he is literally a monster in human skin, as Kurapika describes him.
  • Both Komugi and Theta developed them in opposite ways, unwillingly. Komugi was forced to play games with Meruem and managed to develop him positively, teaching him compassion and human emotions. Theta, however, is forced to teach Tser Nen, which is developing him negatively, making him more inhuman.
So, the idea of Netero having a direct link with both through Beyond (considering the possibility that Beyond also schemed to bring the ants' queen to the NGL to produce a powerful ant king to get rid of Netero so he could finally go to DC)... to think Netero killed the more human version of his evil grandson to save mankind, only for Tserriednich to become a king or gain power to spread his evil everywhere... sounds crazy but fits the narrative.

I like how Togashi wrote several candidates that fit well to be Beyond's kid: Oito/Woble being a popular theory... some thought Halkenburg could be his kid... now Tserriednich... and even Marayam, as he seems to have a powerful GSB with a sinister aura.

I already kinda said it in a previous thread but it's the hundredth time martial law is mentioned. Looks like Zhang Lei might inherit the might of the army soon. BUT if the Kakin empire laws disown women and "corrupt" mafia leaders. THEN Halkenburg inherits the army and can trigger military law to finish the succession war :smart:

Everyone jump on the Halkenburg hype train :myman:

Checkmate :steef::steef:

Or maybe he's simply gonna play the "secret child" card and show himself as son of queen Unma and potential eldest child :hope:

Tserriednich :beckmoji: needs to chill. I’m starting to believe if he ever reached his potential, we would see the pinnacle of human evolution.

Halkenburg is playing 5D chess, and hes about to put Benjamin in checkmate :michalaugh: 5/5

Last 4 chapters were actually a flashback of the succession war plot line considering that we’re back to where the hiatus happened.

I wish this bloody night will have a great pacing like « simultaneous edit » with stuff happening in the same chapter in the lower decks with the Troupe and the upper decks with the princes
