Comic Books Thread

Can we talk about non-Marvel/DC/superhero ones? A lot of the Euro comics are goated like Tintin, Asterix, etc.

@Zoinks52 only tagging you bacause you're the only one i know who reads comics here lul
Tbh I don't read the newer ones from Marvel/DC so much, got burned so bad by ANAD in the 2010s (especially Jason Aaron with Thor) that I'm very wary nowadays lol.

Also I can't tag people for some reason? At least on phone, I was trying to tag a few peeps who I thought might be interested in this thread.

Nice! I'll pop in and add some when I reread.

Anyways my first rec for a comic I really liked is Superman: Emperor Joker!

Fantastic storyline that had Joker becoming OP in a believable fashion. Batman is in it but does not upstage Supes, you also have Batman who is cool without upstaging Supes...and of course Ed Mcguiness' gorgeous art. He is one of my fave comic artists ever!

An underrated run is Superman: Unchained too!

It was one of the first Supes comics I read. Great art, story etc and rare case of Supes using Kryptonian weapons and power armour!
@Zoinks52 your fav superhero comic book era?

40s~50s
50s~60s
60s~70s
70s~80s
80s~90s
90s~2000s
2000s~2010s?
Hard to say as I have not analyzed by era but for now I would say 70's to early mid-2010's broadly. Lots of ebbs and flows but I think I have not really enjoyed comics past mid-2010s for the most part.

Of course there are exceptions, like Immortal Thor (did not finish but seemed good).

What about you?

Not working for me on phone before but working now! Idk what happened.

Anyways @Loki D. Terror @Monster Zoro's Tesla Supplier @Johnny B. Decent do you read comics? I'm certain I've seen you in superhero related discussions at least.

Also @Kizaruber Eats I'm pretty sure that was a Jubilee avy you were rocking the other week, are you an X-Men fan?
I need to read more comics, I can't really buy them right now and I don't have a proper piracy site for them. For now the only comics I have a way to read are the sonic comics, bone and the sam & max comics.
I'm trying to find a way to read some dc and marvel comics but for now I have to settle with watching shows and movies based off them instead.

There's a lot of piracy tbh, just type in the name of a comic you like, ask to read for free and Google will oblige.

I've heard of all three. Is Sam and Max good, what is it like? I think there was a cartoon of it right?

Sam and Max is definitely a comic you'd need an acquired taste for, I think. Not in the way that it's deep or profound but it's a weird comic that feels like one big parody most of the time. It'll have moments where they say things that feel like callbacks or references to something from an earlier part of the series, but these things were never seen in the series until that very moment. They have gags that feel borderline schizophrenic, but that's where the comedy lies. It's basically nonstop dialogue and specifically nonstop jokes throughout the comics and throughout the cartoon, and the jokes themselves always vary between being genuinely clever and logical or just plain idiocy.
This video goes more in depth on it (specifically the cartoon):

My fav era is the 80s~90s.

I remember reading some Crisis On Earth comics that were peak, God i remember reading Barry Allen's death...

I also readed Batman's Knightfall run, specifically Batman: The Son of The Demon...

and when Azrael becomes Batman, Azrael Batman was fucking badass, Batman vs Azrael in the end peaked.

POV: i had this comic lol

I also, readed the Green Lantern run after Paralax when Kyle Ranner becomes the new Green Lantern.

Not for some time, no. I feel like so many cross-overs, starting from the 00's onwards, made keeping up even with one hero to be rather difficult.

Still, I enjoy them in other forms of media, I would say.
