I have a theory that technologically advanced civilizations genetically modified prisoners of war and slaves into having descendants with very specific features like the fish men, giants and Buccaneers, and that these races were tasked with certain missions on behalf of these ancient civilizations, such as exploring the moon by the lunarians and winged races or the sea floor by the fishmen and merefolks and the buccaneers/giants/ancient giants were tasked to doing heavy labor and warfare.
The reason why I’m using plural for civilizations is because I believe that Joy Boys kingdom isn’t the first technologically advanced kingdom in the history of the one piece world and that there existed civilizations before it that were also the same
I believe that the ancient kingdom found a way to grant people with superpowers without having to alter their entire bloodlines like their predecessors which created the various races in the Op world out of human ancestors
