We know that at one point, Oden joined Whitebeard's crew. Then later, for an unknown reason, left WB and joined Roger's crew. So surely, Whitebeard must have viewed Oden as his son at least at some point of time.
So this begs the question as to if Whitebeard ever fought Kaido around the time of Kaido's invasion of wano kuni or after he killed Oden. We saw from the marineford war that Whitebeard would literally die trying to save his sons, so why didn't he do anything when kaido killed Oden?
A simple solution to this question would be for Oda to make it to where Oden left the WB pirates on bad terms and hence WB didn't care when Oden died. However given how much WB cares for his crew, I doubt he would give zero shits if Kaido just killed Oden, murdered his family, and enslaved his country.
What would be more interesting is if Whitebeard did indeed try to stop Kaido or avenge Oden and he was defeated.
Some might think this is impossible given that WB was portrayed only second to Roger, but I think otherwise. Kaido is the world's strongest creature after all, with his title directly conflicting with WB's "world's strongest man." What's more is that it has also been stated that in a 1v1, Kaido is the strongest, this was stated after WB's death, however. What is the source of this title? perhaps it has something to do with Whitebeard.
In a war between the WBp and the HBp, the whitebeard pirates would win 10/10, but who's to say that this must be the case for a 1v1 between Kaido and whitebeard.
Regardless, given how close Oden was to WB, there had to have been at least some clash between WB and Kaido due to Oden's death, given that Kaido ruled over wano for the next 20+ years, it is clear to say that WB was unsuccessful in removing Kaido from power.
